THE SNOWY MOUNTAINS
Although the ‘Snowies’ are famous for alpine peaks with winter snow adventures and activities; it’s not just about the snow. In the spring, summer, and autumn months this remarkable region has so much to see and do, with our towns and their people just the start.
In winter, experience alpine village charm in the south of the Snowies at Jindabyne, Thredbo, Perisher, Charlotte Pass, Crackenback and
Khancoban. The region’s resorts are a-buzz with snow sports fanatics.
In summer, enjoy some of the best views of the Snowies from the top of Mount Kosciuszko, accessible via Charlotte Pass and the Kosciuszko Express chairlift at Thredbo. Year-round activities on offer include mountain biking, horse riding, kayaking, bush-walking, and fishing.
"Our pristine snow fields make the Snowy Mountains Australia’s favourite winter tourism destination. Whether a first-time skier or mountain expert, we’ve got an alpine resort to suit all experience levels."
"In warmer months Lake Jindabyne is popular for water sports. The waterway is teeming with fish and is part of the Snowy Mountains Scheme, Australia’s greatest engineering project that creates hydro-electricity."
Welcome to Winter! Aprés, Live Music, Festivals and Parties. Check out past events here and keep an eye out for events to come!
"Explore the Snowies from the ground up with our abundance of spectacular bushwalks and hikes. Immerse yourself in township trails or take on the Kosciuszko National Park – there’s a walk for every age and ability."
"There are peaks for conquering, cliffs for scaling, trails for cycling, rivers for kayaking, paddocks for horse riding and swimming holes for cooling off after all that adrenaline-boosting action. Plus, you'll be surrounded by incredible views, meadows of wildflowers and incredible wildlife."
"Explore the Snowy Mountains on two wheels and immerse yourself in the stunning scenery. From Australia’s highest peak and alpine lakes to forests and giant boulders on the rolling Monaro Plains, you can mountain bike along the many trails or enjoy the tranquillity of the area by road."
Come and stay with us on the Eastern shores of Lake Jindabyne! Discover Rushes Bay for a sunny beach day or take the bikes to Tyrolean (where you'll find trails for every level of rider). In winter you can enjoy a sunset beer by our fire pit (after a long day on the slopes) before cooking up a storm in our communal kitchen (or in your private apartment). There is always an adventure to be had at East Lake Travellers Lodge. Plus! We are dog friendly, so bring your four-legged friends along for the fun.
